Muay Thai gyms in Chiang Mai· 9 listed

Chiang Mai is one of the best places in Thailand to train Muay Thai, from first-timers to fighters.

Muay Thai is woven into life in the north, and Chiang Mai has gyms for every level, from travellers taking their first session to fighters preparing for a card. Alongside traditional Muay Thai camps you will also find boxing gyms and a growing number of Brazilian jiu-jitsu and grappling schools, often sharing space or owners.

Gyms range from no-frills local camps with ring time and pad work to larger setups with structured beginner classes, strength areas and fitness memberships. Many run two sessions a day, typically morning and late afternoon, to avoid the midday heat. Trainers hold pads one-to-one even within group sessions, so technique gets real attention regardless of your level.

For drop-ins, a single session usually runs from around 300 to 500 THB, with weekly and monthly packages that bring the cost down sharply for longer stays. Monthly unlimited training often lands between 2,500 and 4,000 THB, and some camps offer accommodation packages for people who want to train full time. Gloves and wraps can be bought or sometimes rented at the gym if you arrive without kit.

No experience is needed to start, and trainers are used to working with visitors, so language is rarely an obstacle in the gym. The cooler months from November to February are the most comfortable for hard training, though the dedicated camps run year round.

Train in the morning and recover with a relaxed afternoon tour, or save the sparring for a rest day.See tours
